Principal
The Building Principal reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools. This professional provides leadership, direction, supervision and support to the teachers in his/her school. This person works cooperatively with the Superintendent and other members of the district staff and the community.
Building Principal is the chief administrator of their assigned schools. The primary responsibility of the Building Principal is the improvement of instruction. A majority of the Building Principal’s time shall be spent on curriculum and staff development through formal and informal activities, establishing clear lines of communication regarding school goals, accomplishments, practices and policies with parents and teachers. Building Principal is responsible for management of their staff, maintenance of the facility and equipment, administration of the educational program, control of the students attending school, management of the school’s budget, communication between the school and the community and reporting criminal offenses. Building Principal will be evaluated on instructional leadership ability, student achievement and discipline, and their ability to maintain a positive educational and learning environment.
MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITY:
The Building Principal carries out policies of the Board of Education related to areas of responsibility. This person makes recommendations to the Superintendent for policy development and revision in all areas of the school system administration. This person works cooperatively with administrative and district office staff to provide input on policy development, revision and implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional Educator’s License with Principal/General Administrative Endorsement (required)
- Master degree in Education Administration (required)
- Previous administrative experience as a Principal (preferred)
- Typical educational working environment.
