School Principal

The Elmira Heights Central School District is seeking a Principal for Dr. Nathan Cohen Elementary School, which serves our district’s students in grades PreK through five.

Preferred qualifications include:
A well-developed understanding of and background in elementary education and child development; the ability to cultivate and support ongoing positive culture and community within the building; demonstrated team leadership abilities and experiences; the ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents and other stakeholder groups; the ability to work and coordinate with community service provider agencies; ability to lead instructional change through as instructional improvement model; ability to lead the effective use of data to drive instruction.

The successful applicant must have a NY State certification as an SDL or SBL. The successful candidate should have understanding and knowledge of EHCSD initiatives, including:

•  Knowledge of Next Generation Standards

•  Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

•  Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports

•  Professional Learning Communities

•  Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Belonging

Primary function:
To serve as the instructional leader for the building, providing direct supervision to PK-5 faculty and staff and meeting the day-to-day operations to maintain a safe and structured learning environment within the building. The Principal works to maintain the bridge between school and community, promotes the use of data for the purpose of increasing student achievement, collaborates with teacher leaders, supports the district as needed on PK-12 committees and collaborates with other building and district administrators.
