Primary Purpose of Position:
The Early Learning Resource Center/Site Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the Mooresville site which includes the Early Learning Resource Center and play space, as well as planning, developing, and implementing activities/workshops for families, early childhood professionals, and community organizations. Duties and
Responsibilities: Site Coordination
• Answer general phone inquiries and direct calls to the appropriate department/staff.
• Check general voicemail.
• Greet visitors and direct to appropriate staff/meeting.
• Receive packages and distribute to/notify appropriate staff.
• Coordinate building repairs and maintenance.
• Operate copiers and other equipment as necessary.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance of equipment as necessary.
• Maintain documents/files as needed and ensure confidentiality and security of files.
• Assist with the completion of NC Pre-K applications and make copies of documentation.
• Coordinate Pampered Pantry appointments.
• Organize and maintain diaper inventory.
Maintenance of Early Learning Resource Center
• Maintain and organize physical layout of the resource center.
• Catalog, process, label, and code resource materials.
• Be responsible for maintenance of repairable items.
• Conduct yearly inventory of all resource center materials.
• Prepare monthly display of ideas/themes.
• Facilitate open playgroups as assigned
Resource Development/Skills Instruction
• Plan, develop, and implement usage of educational toys and materials.
• Develop resource bags with circle-time activities, "attention grabbers", and transition ideas to assist patrons in their classroom planning.
• Prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans to go in thematic tubs that are assembled.
• Conduct workshops for child care centers/homes, families and organizations.
• Prepare developmentally appropriate materials for resource bags and theme tubs.
• Plan, prepare and implement monthly "make it - take it" workshops. Customer Service
• Manage circulation and check-out system.
• Be familiar with resource books, supplies and educational materials.
• Maintain overdue notices.
• Assist patrons, demonstrating developmentally appropriate educational materials and their purpose as teaching tools.
• Provide one-on-one instruction as needed. Fiscal Management
• Fully comply with all fiscal policies and procedures as approved by the Iredell County Partnership for Young Children.
• Process requisitions for purchase orders for equipment, toys and materials with supervisor.
• Check in orders as received.
• Maintain reports, records, center schedule/calendar, and categorize resources. Public/Community Relations
• Develop working relationships with child care providers and families.
• Provide an orientation to patrons.
• Encourage utilization of educational materials and equipment.
• Motivate patrons to explore the entire world of learning and expose these goals to their children.
• Bring about community awareness of ICPYC and Smart Start. Equipment Demonstration/Usage
• Be knowledgeable about equipment: Die cuts, copier, book binder, laminator, Ellison machines, and other equipment.
• Maintain equipment upkeep and performance.
• Educate each patron regarding use and safety rules governing equipment. Record Keeping/Data Collection
• Collect and compile data of the progress concerning goals and objectives related to the effectiveness of the center's resources.
Prepare reports on patron monitoring and/or tracking on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for presentation to ICPYC's Board of Directors. Evaluation
• Systemically collect information about activities, characteristics, and outcomes of ELRC to assist staff and Board of Directors with data regarding progress toward impacting countywide early childhood issues, progress toward addressing partnership needs or target populations, and overall effectiveness of ELRC. Other Duties as Assigned
• Perform other duties as necessary to promote and foster the mission of the Iredell County Partnership for Young Children Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and meet the requirements listed below.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
• Occasional evening, early morning, and/or weekend hours required.
• Local travel is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree in a field related to early childhood education, child development, or human services from an accredited college or university, and four (4) or more years' related experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate materials for children birth to age five.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
• Ability to present information effectively in writing and orally. • Ability to effectively present information to small groups, top management, and/or boards.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to adapt to and support a changing work environment and new demands.
• Attention to detail, and compliance with rules, regulations, and deadlines.
• A high level of organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of integrated team. • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
