Job Description
Ohio University’s Regional Higher Education invites applicants for the positions of Communication and External Relations Manager. Up to two positions are available. One position with a primary location at the Southern Campus. One position with a primary location at the Chillicothe Campus.
These positions will also serve all of Ohio University’s regional campuses via technology. Participation in activities across the regional campuses is expected, therefore, travel may be expected.
Reporting to the Director of Regional Higher Education Communication and External Relations, this position will work closely with the director, other communication managers, and academic leadership across the regional campus system to design and execute a comprehensive communication and marketing program on behalf of the regional campus, while supporting external relations efforts.
Communications:
• Collaborates with colleagues across the regional system and the university to identify and execute system-wide efforts that also address local needs for content strategy, recruitment/enrollment messaging, advertising/marketing, web strategy and social media. Oversees implementation with support from a team of tactical experts in each of those areas within University Communications and Marketing.
• Develops and distributes news and information, internally and externally, through press releases/news stories, campus publications/emails, social media, and websites, among other channels.
• Provides content expertise for the regional campus system, ensuring consistent and effective messaging across all platforms that aligns with the regional higher education vision and mission. Example areas of expertise include but are not limited to articles/press releases, web updates and strategy, enrollment/brand materials, and advertising..
• Ensures university brand standards and expectations are strictly enforced for all locally created materials and serves as a campus liaison with UCM.
• Other duties as assigned.
External Relations:
• Supports the campus dean in efforts in the community and the region to promote external partnerships and opportunities for expanded campus programming.
• Assists in engaging regional stakeholders in initiatives of priority to the campus, to Regional Higher Education, and to the University.
• Assists the campus dean in developing and executing campus events, particularly those related to community relations and workforce development.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing or related field required.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Communication, Marketing or related field preferred.
Pay Rate
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Hiring range is $44,592 to $51,838. Work Schedule
The standard operating hours of Ohio University is Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Some evenings and weekends could be required based on need, events or peak periods.
