The Quilcene School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Interim Superintendent of Schools. The Superintendent is the chief executive officer of the District and as such is responsible for the management of the schools, the administration of all Board-approved policies and the conduct and quality of the District’s educational programs and support systems.

This is an ideal position for an experienced school leader who is interested in enhancing their career, or perfect for a retire/rehire administrator. We see great opportunity for a person who has a strong vision for high quality teaching/learning in a K – 12 school district.

Quilcene is a dynamic and charming small town located on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in northwest Washington state. We are nestled between the majestic Olympic Mountains and the scenic waters of the Hood Canal with the Olympic National Park at our back door. Quilcene enjoys a coastal temperature climate throughout the year. This allows for a wide array of recreational and outdoor activities.

The Quilcene School District serves approximately 725 students from pre-school through 12th grade on one main campus that is divided into Elementary (K-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12), and PEARL Remote ALE (K-8). We also serve neighboring Brinnon’s high school students. The district has approximately 40 certificated staff and 45 classified staff and an annual operating budget of $10 million. We have numerous educational, athletic, and extra-curricular programs and dedicated staff to carry them out.

The benefits of working in a small school are many. We have a safe and caring atmosphere; we are able to get to know the students on a one-on-one basis due to small class size; and we have the support of our parents and community.

There are also challenges in our small rural school district, and we hope to find a superintendent who is willing to consider creative and innovative solutions to these challenges.
